Four Legged Friends!

Here at Somerset Gardens, we are a pet friendly building and we love our four-legged friends. However, it has been brought to our attention that some residents are using the rooftop or ground level garage as a zone for their pets to relieve themselves.

We understand that this may seem like a convenient location, and even if these folks “poop and scoop”, the waste matter degrades the material lining of the bricks, membranes and gardens, leading to costly damages.

In addition, it is unhygienic for our landscapers & site staff to be working or children playing in areas where animals have relieved themselves.

We ask that you please take your animals outside of the building & property to relieve themselves and ensure that your pets are on leash at all times when in common areas such as the elevators, rooftop, hallways & parking garages.

HVAC Filters

A reminder that a filter that is not regularly replaced can lead to (very costly) problems and even shut down your heat pump. For this reason, filters are provided to residents FREE of charge. These will be distributed outside your door bi-annually. Used filters are not recyclable and must be discarded in the garbage bin in the outdoor parking lot. Please do not use the indoor garbage chutes to dispose of your used filters.

West Wall Update

Work on the west wall is progressing well and the anticipated completion date is mid-August. Initially, the anticipated completion date was the end of July, but supply chain issues in obtaining the wall paneling has caused a slight delay of 2-3 weeks. We thank you all for your patience with any disruptions you may have experienced during the construction. To date, the contractor has completed partial installation of the AquaBarrier of the west wall.

Notices

Previously, elevator posters were to inform of the monthly fire alarm testing but we thought that this would be a great place for friendly reminders / notices to ensure all residents have visibility.
So before (or after) checking your hair in the mirrors in the elevator, be sure to check out any recent news that we have to share!

Bicycle Thefts

Considering that we live in a downtown location, bicycle theft is not an uncommon occurrence and unfortunately, we had a break-in into our exterior bike room where numerous bikes have been stolen even though they were securely locked and the room is FOB access only.

Please be advised that the condo insurance does not cover bike theft as that is covered under individual occupant insurance. Most companies cover a maximum of $1000, therefore, if you have a high value bike, you may want to contact your insurance company to discuss adding additional options for bike insurance.

We encourage any bicycle owners to further register their bicycles with 529 Garage (project529.com) as many stolen bicycles have been returned to their owners through this effort.
